All Our Yesterdays
"Everything exists to end in a photograph." - Susan Sontag
Instagram users are photographing the world at a rapid pace, adding 70 million photos every day to an ever-expanding image archive. The photo data created by Instagram users allows us to connect photos that would have been previously seen as separate and isolated. Photography is now a social act that connects strangers around the world. It has become a global conversation.
All Our Yesterdays is an interactive story that explores what photography means today in our increasingly connected global world. Synchronicity explores our ideas of time against the backdrop of sunset and sunrise photography. Memory compares my personal Instagram memories to the collective Instagram memory. Legacy follows my Grandfather's travels abroad in the 50's in order to document how things have changed by comparing his photographs to present day Instagram photographs.
